Driving a 5% YoY sales volume increase through account changes in just six months

cheesegeek are a London-based online cheese gift, hamper, and subscription service and Dragon’s Den success story who are passionate about sharing their love of cheese.


What they wanted

cheesegeek, an online cheese subscription service, reached out to Circus looking for PPC management to help them to drive growth through increased ROI.

Initially, our client came to us with an ROI-focused growth goal of 3X, which over time, was reduced to 2.5X, and eventually, changed to a £20, and then £15, CPA goal.




How we delivered

In order to best help our clients to reach their business goals and objectives, we created a new shopping feed, broad match keywords, and tested expansion onto Bing. We also created two separate brand campaigns, of high and low priority, to increase brand presence.

We used a number of Google Ads products including Smart Bidding, Smart Shopping, and Broad Match Keywords – the latter of which worked extremely well and generated a lot of conversions at a low CPA, despite the Smart Shopping campaign initially taking some time to improve.




The Results

During the first three months of account management under Circus, we exceeded desired ROI for our client, reaching 2.7X ROI and hitting over £250,000 in revenue across 4,488 sales. Despite the account still being in a learning phase during the first three months of working together, the account made steady progress and exceeded expected ROI, and this happened following a recent rebrand from The Cheese Geek to cheesegeek.

The effects of the pandemic meant that year-on-year progress was hard to measure, however December 2021 still saw an impressive revenue increase of 1% – a great result due to the disruption of the pandemic – and sales volume increase of 5% year-on-year. Our 6 months of working together (November 2021-April 2022) saw a 2% increase in CVR, and 2.4% increase in CTR.

Further benefits experienced by the client as a result of our work together included higher sales, increased revenue, increased brand awareness, and exposure to a new platform and way of driving business growth.
